Vision statement for The George
When the Christian Fellowship first bought The George we believed it could ultimately provide the answer to our long-standing space problems – as well as giving us an excellent base from which, (and in which), to serve the community of which we’re a part. As we looked at the site, a number of us imagined an extended suite of buildings that would eventually provide us with a larger and more comfortable space in which to worship God and welcome more new members.
But we are not the church we were! During the past three years God has taken us on a journey, through which, slowly but surely, He has been turning us ‘inside out’. We are now far less concerned with building a new auditorium and far more concerned with helping to build a community in which the love of God is in easy reach of all.
In brief, our ‘vision’ is that The George should become a thriving community hub that exists for the benefit all who choose to come: A place in which friendships are born, worries are shared, hope is offered, and support is given. A place in which people are loved and respected, and in which God is both sought and found.
And we acknowledge that that could be the end of God’s purposes for the site. But, equally, we acknowledge there may come a time when the facility will need to grow.
